new hat for the shop

I bought this yarn from Etsy last weekend and love it!
It's from moonlightandlaughter.
I wanted to add some new colors and some varrigated yarns to my hats.
I hope to have good luck with my shop in the coming months.

My husband has gone to Romania for a week and he took my camera!!

Mattie misses him the most, she has cried EVERY day since he has been gone-and I am just trying to keep with the routine of our day and give them a little extra lovin.
I spent the morning shopping on Etsy and bought a whole new batch of yarn to make some more hats. (This week I am going to try listing some Pixie style hats)

I love reading blogs-I love getting a little glimpse into the lives of complete strangers.
This week I will post some of the new blogs I've been inspired by.

I had to buy these while thrifting-they just looked too sweet and I loved the hand crocheted outfits-somwhere in her travels she lost her other bootie.
I love them-don't quite think I will share them with my kids.

Browns Oakridge Zoo is amazing!!!

If you live in Illinois and want to visit exotic animals and even be able to hold a baby cub-then you need to check this place out!!!!

Not your typical zoo by any stretch of the imagination-it's a family owned business zoo that you won't want to miss.

SAL sock #1

I bought a huge bag of vintage wool from the Salvation Army this summer(brown &green).
I am going to keep track of how many pairs of socks I can make out of this wool.
All for $2.50 (gotta love 1/2 price day)

have you heard of the blanket statement? sort of the same idea, but I'm just going to make socks.

I updated my shop with pictures from the photo shoot -come on over and take a look.

I did it!!! I was approved as a liscensed knitter for little turtle knits.
I have always dreamed of working as a liscensed knitter and now I finally get the chance.
I wanted to give my Etsy shop more of a professional look now that I have some hats to sell, so my friend Azuree agreed to take some photos for me.
I asked a few of my friends if I could snag their children for the shoot and Azuree ended up taking some amazingly cute pictures.
I will let you know when my shop is updated.

look what I got for my birthday

I turned the big 35 last week.
I was spoiled rotten-
and then I had the chance to escape the city and go to the country.

and....all of my presents were knitting related.
gosh, 35 is starting off to be a good year.

I am finally organizing my yarn and trying to find a space to store it all.
(I can't throw any of it away-I'm too cheap).
Anyways, I came across this rough gray wool that I love!!!
It's too itchy for much of anything but I love the look of it.
I grabbed an old dishcloth pattern that I have always loved and I am going to just keep repeating this pattern until I run out of yarn.
I am thinking of using it somewhere in my home-maybe I'll drape it across my old trunk.

Also, keep your fingers crossed-I am sending in samples of my work to become a liscensed knitter for a small stay at home mom business.

I made these little summer dresses for my craft show a few weeks ago.

I love how they turned out-now I have to make a few that will fit my girls.

keeping with the tradition

When Pearl was younger, I remember my mom crocheting her a little Easter basket-
so here I am trying to keep up with the tradition - making them for my nieces, my girls, and my friend's kids.
